Peter Baker, the chief White House correspondent for The New York Times and a political analyst for MSNBC, takes us behind the scenes at the White House following the first debate. He explains how the Democrats are in "defiant" mode, if this is Kamala's moment, whether or not the White House is hiding something about Joe Biden's health, Hunter Biden's current role within the White House, the dangers of project 2025, how a lot of world leaders are concerned about Donald Trump getting reelected, and how Democrats are weighing the pros and cons of pushing Joe Biden off the ballot.

As a side note, why isn't anyone concerned with "freezing Mitch McConnell"? If Biden has to step down, so should Mitch.

I decided to donate to Biden and the DNC and have pledged a monthly amount to both. I rely on Social Security and my reasoning is that it's more valuable to me and my disabled daughter, who's on SSDI, to see Democrats as our better and only choice. Trump presents a real danger to our survival. I'd rather help them get elected in any way I can.

Why don't you talk about Trump's deeds, his mental and fitness and is criminality

Biden should stay in the race and the media should get to the place where they see they are just not letting this go and hurting the Democrats candidate. Move on please! Biden’s NATO speech was excellent as his rally speeches have been. Enough is enough. Stop making this a crisis.

At what point is this bullying? I love democracy so I’m voting blue no matter who. 🇺🇸

Here’s my question? What’s up with the @NYT? Are we now going to see weekly OpEds telling Biden to drop out? Will the Editors eventually give their full support to Trump? Is that where this is headed?

Why isn't Trump being dissected with the same level of scrutiny? Many journalists are giving Trump a pass and others are fawning over him. He is the one who should step aside.

Biden has my vote even if he’s in a wheelchair!

It’s simple:
Democracy over autocracy!

President Biden is the best man for this country! His wisdom, statesmanship, diplomacy, compassion and worldwide respect is what America needs in these tumultuous times. Yes, he had a bad night but he's done so much and has more planned for America's future. Where would America be without FDR? He was in questionable health, his frailties were protected by his team, President Biden deserves equal respect and support.

What is going on this week? All these politicians are way too old .

Why are so many 80 yr olds still hanging onto center stage unable to retire with grace ?

It is sick

I’m happy to hear this conversation. Its how our democracy should work. It shouldn’t be about loyalty and falling in line as the republican party has done. This is healthy, but difficult, and I understand why it upsets everyone. Let’s figure out the next best steps forward are, with conversations and healthy debates.
