How the British Monarchy Has Survived For So Long

It's a 1,200-year-old institution that has weathered wars, disease, and everything in between. But why has the British monarchy survived when so many others have faltered? The modern British monarchy can trace its roots back centuries, to the period when the island of Great Britain was a collection of disparate kingdoms in England, Scotland, and Wales. That changed over time, as these kingdoms consolidated into a single monarchy.

Why does the British monarchy still exist?

The Japanese Imperial family has been around for a long time. I’m certain their story of resiliency would be interesting for a video.

It’s ironic how one of the reasons that they have maintained their role is by being willing to give up their power in centuries past. If the Russian Tsars had only learned this lesson, they might’ve made it to today.

Historically speaking, having a King Charles on the British throne has a 50/50 chance of ending the monarchy.

We tried being a republic but frankly, it sucked, so we wanted the monarchy back as long as they couldn't raise taxes. Quite simple really.
(I wrote that before you said it.)

Queen Elizabeth is the longest reigning monarch of Britain, not just England. She was the Queen of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well

My grandparents live in Scotland and are from the UK. I like their explanation of the monarchy. Where America has revolving door of people with their own interests (presidents); we have the Queen. She embodies the whole of the UK. No revolving doors.

A+ video!
That makes it much easier to understand why the British Monarchy still exists.

I would really like to know about both the other grand monarchies in Europe – Spain, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium – as well as smaller kingdoms like Liechtenstein, Monaco, Andorra, the Vatican etc.

This video only at the British monarchy from an English perspective. You have to remember that King Charles III is the closest living descendant of King Robert the Bruce of Scotland.

Zoom days were way better. 5 min before work/class commute. No traffic. No money spent on vehicle maintenance. Golden times.

It exists because it has a great PR machine. It helps keep everyone in check.

I remember when the late queen had her guard play our national anthem in the wake of 9/11. Groundbreaking, and more reassuring than anything else at the time imo. It signaled a type of global unity that i haven't seen since
