Long before Earth was even a grain of sand in the cosmos, the Old Gods shaped an entire epoch called the “First World.” They arose on a place called GodWorld—known as Asgard or Urgrund—about 18 billion years ago, then evolved into truly godlike beings over the next few billion years, and eventually reached a peak of culture and power that seemed unbreakable. Ten billion years of a golden age followed. That ended with a terrible war stoked by Lokee, the mischievous son of Wotan. In the final cataclysm, Ragnarok tore GodWorld apart. The Old Gods died, leaving a cosmic explosion that created the Godwave, seeding potential for new gods across countless worlds.
