How to use a peak flow meter to get good values to help monitor your asthma. I go over the technique to use to get the best peak flow measurements.
Ideally, you should be standing, with your chest open and loose, take a deep breath in until you feel a bit of a stretch, then do a sharp and fast blow through the peak flow meter. I suggest doing 3 measurements in a row and take the average value. You should compare this value to your personal best.

Hi Dr Stanel, asthma patient here. Apart from the medical treatment prescribed by the lung specialist, avoiding triggers, losing weight (currently BMI of 20.2), and keeping a healthy lifestyle, is there any thing else I can do to improve my PEF readings each day? Are there any types of daily breathing exercises I could work on? Thank you. I watched all your videos as soon as I was diagnosed with asthma and it helped me understand my condition and prescribed treatment quickly.
