Paintballs typically don't spin and they definitely don't spin for accuracy. The porting on the barrels do not induce spin. They are mostly there for sound signature.
The overwhelming majority of barrels are smoothbore but the few gimmicky rifled paintball barrels are not effective due to the varying sizes of paintballs. Humidity, temperature, age and manufacturer all factor into the wildly variable size of a paintball so it either cannot engage the rifling or will be ripped apart by it.
Another gimmicky method that imparts spin on a paintball is backspin for longer range or curving balls around corners. But that lowers velocity and precision by introducing wild trajectories. They are also never seen in the competition scene.
Disclaimer: I'm referring to paintballs only not muskets. Rifling on muskets work due to different materials and stronger propulsion.

They do NOT add a helix to create spin. Trust me, I’ve asked, I thought about doing custom barrels, but there’s basically no point with spheres. I saw it on 1 gun EVER, and it made essentially no difference in play.

slight correction: the paintball actually spins BACKWARDS, because the sideways spin of normal bullets doesn’t work with the round projectiles. this is due to the magnus effect, which makes them counteract gravity with the slight drag of the rotation, and travel further.
