Thanks for the answer :)

Think I'm gonna go with CRT Simulate plus scanline/mask filters (no GSM), when gaming alone.

GSM forced 480p if game compatible or Motion Adaptive, when streaming to an audience.

Honestly, Crunchy Roll’s transfers seem to be consistently bad. But they have a monopoly on streaming anime, and only a small percentage of people (us) are AV nerds who notice and care, so that’s probably not gonna change.

I’m listening to this while waiting in a long line, to get gas here in southeast Georgia. Thanks for making this wait a little more tolerable lol

I came for Qs, the As are just a bonus.

Regarding multi-out cables, I know from recent experience that the multi-out used by Insurrection Industries can in fact be opened, as I re-wired a csync cable to sync on luma instead. The multi-out top and bottom are just press-fit around the middle piece. The seam is fairly tight and may be a bit difficult to separate, but at least in my case there was no glue, and the pieces fit back together nicely once I was done.

GSM can make games lag more if forcing progressive 480p or 576p. Colors should look the same; at least it seems to be when I was testing with my tester homebrew that shows contrast color bars, and switching between 480i, 480p, and 576i colors stayed the same (OSSC and OSSC Pro were color calibrated).

@7:07 It's not mentioned at all, but maybe you already know: If you are doing live-shows in venues, bars etc I would definitely invest in an audio system/setup completely centred around balanced audio. Like cables for most mics, those cables can have XLR connectors (which are not exclusive to mics btw), but often they come in TRS variants as well. The whole idea behind the balanced audio setup is the way it is set up to avoid introducing the crap the signal gets from the cables picking up noise etc: there's an inverted signal line in those cables which automatically removes the crap the cables picks up along the way. But I will leave it at that, because it can get technical fast and this info is readily available of one wants to dive into that. It also allows a far greater distance to be used between mic/instrument/speaker and the mixer/amp/whatever it is plugged into.

About 80% of my PS2 titles look amazing via OPL & GSM. I generally stick to 480p/576p, can't say i've noticed lag whilst connected via HDMI. The downside being that settings have to be adjusted game by game in OPL and GSM. Some games won't load using OPL. If i could afford a Retrotink 5x I would go for that cos it's plug and play, though the image would not be as good as GSM at least all games would work

Hi Bob
I wanted to ask you if using CRT simulation could cause burn-in on my IPS panel? I have never used CRT simulation for fear of damaging the panel.

Why would you watch a movie trying to replicate the look of a CRT? Movies were shot on film, primarily to be shown in a theater, on a film projector. I want my movies to look the most like the original film source/master as possible, grain and all.

Now, old TV shows, that's a different story, and a little more complicated, due to many of me favorites being shot on film, and others being shot on video, but everything being presented via video.
