Watch live as SpaceX test fires a Falcon Heavy rocket at launch complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center. Ignition of the 27 first-stage Merlin engines is expected at about noon EDT (1600 UTC). The company is getting ready to launch a bus-sized broadband satellite for Viasat into a high-altitude orbit, a demanding flight profile that will require disposal of all three of the rocket’s reusable boosters.

If today's test firing goes well, launch is likely to be scheduled for 7:36 p.m. EDT (2336 UTC) on Tuesday, April 18.
