A Story Told - The Count of Monte Cristo Animatic

It’s been a while since I worked on a musical piece!

I’ve always loved the “Count of Monte Cristo” Musical (thanks to Ink Potts’ MLP videos, LOL), so I decided to put my own twist on this song with my original characters.

This project is more like an alternate universe (AU), and I have to admit it was both surprisingly fun and challenging. Having three characters on-screen singing at different speeds was quite the task! Some lines in the song go by SO FAST, but I tried my best to make it engaging without being too jarring for the audience (ME).

At the beginning, some lines were originally sung by Villefort, but I switched it up to have Mondego sing instead. I thought it would be easier for viewers to follow two characters initially rather than three. Their voices sound quite similar to me though, so I hope the transition wasn’t too noticeable.

I know there are things I’d like to fix, but if I kept nitpicking, this project would never be finished.

You know I do love the dynamic presented by the conspirators here. It does give off the feel they are pretty close friends. It would heartwarming… if you ignore the fact they are singing about ruining an innocent person’s life for their own ambitions.

Two things:

First and most important, that last shot of Dantes sitting on his cell. The look on his eyes, I can just feel the hatred. He knows someone wronged him and he is going to find a way to make them pay.

Second:

MONDERGO YOU ASS! YOU RUINED THE MAN'S LIFE TO BE WITH MERCEDES AND THEN YOU GO AND RIZZ VILLEFORT!? FOR SHAME!

This is really impressive with how quick the lines go by and how fast paced the song is. All their designs are so fun too, with the Mondego stand in being quite the feral rat archetype

ALL OF THE MOVEMENTS ARE INSANE?? One of my favourite shots honestly was in the very beginning of them walking up the stairs, it was so cool and honestly kinda clued me in on the people.

The designs are gorgeous?? I love them so much. I like how unique every one is! They all have different shapes and silhouettes and it was easy to tell them all apart!

The bits added where its close-ups on the characters faces, and the angles in which we viewed them?? So, so tasty. 10/10 will watch again. And will also bully my sister into watching it because I know she would love it too :D

Wwwwhaaat? I don't think I've ever seen a group of men (?) be so comfortable touching each other and having such energy. Absolutely baffled by this concept and the execution. Might be a weird point but genuinely the best dynamic I've seen in a while
