This action shows that placement is more important than actual ball speed.

First, he's 17. Second, it's an impressive speed and power but also a good example of why placement and spin is more important than raw flat power.

The fact that he lost the point for it is underwhelming to say the least

In civilised society we measure things in km not miles.

What’s special? The 145mph or the fact that he got it back in play and won it!!? Amazing tennis here.

The same for Iga. She’s increased her 1st serve speed quite significantly to around 190 kph but it doesn’t seem to be helping her at all. It’s the placement that’s even more important. Ideally both.

Guys the serve won him the point - he just messed it up after that. 145 anywhere in the box is extremely hard to return with quality, and his opponent did not, in fact, return it well. He lost not because of the serve, but because his approach shot was conservative AND his opponent guessed the right direction AND he then missed the tough volley.

huge serve, placement was not perfect but still thats a bomb for a junior and he is not a giant like Isner for example so wow

The guy smacked the serve as hard as he could, didnt really aim for an ace.See thats why big servers are good their serve placement, on the lines with laser focus aim and its still very fast

Serves like that and lost the point? We have found Sam Groth’s heir apparent. 😂

This is blasphemy, the speed should be in nautical miles or knots
