Hi, I've played WoW for 20 years since it's initial launch, including other retail expansions. The War Within is a retail WoW expansion. There's some cool new stuff, the art and music team did a great job, but then it's right back to dailies\WQs\crafting\rep grinding\M+\raiding. If you weren't happy before you probably won't be happy now. Don't jump into the deep end, but please don't jump down its gullet either. I'm enjoying it, because I've enjoyed them.

Man, it is SO nice to hear someone with a level head about all this. MMO's are notorious for their honeymoon period, I think a lot of creators wind up looking silly (to put it positively) when they come out swinging like "WoW is BACK!!!", only to backpedal when the community turns.

I actually genuinely love TWW. The story is rich and nicely done so far. The zones are beautiful. There is much to do.

The biggest issue I see of people is they rush through everything as fast as they can and then say there is nothing to do. Half the game for me to beat that was making my own content to enjoy. Be it RP, farming, pvping.. ect.

Thank god jessey has some common sense over the other wow people. I see so many content creaters "YOU MUST COME BACK TO WOW"

Whats even funnier is whenever content creators praise the expansion and then completely ditch the expansion 1 month in. Happened with DF where everyone said it was one of the best wow expac ever and 1 month later went back to playing classic wow or something else

That's why this xpac I'm taking a slow approach. Doing all the quests, exploring the beautiful environments, and then when I get bored, peace out. Instead of getting caught up in needing it to be fun forever

The alt friendliness ROCKS, I've already been playing it more than the past few expansions. Really excited to see how the content goes

I've been loving WoW since Dragonflight launch. The game feels a lot more freeing than ever before, especially now with Warbands. I know how jaded WoW veterans have become but it really is different to how they used to be.

But I get it if your last experience was the end of Legion-BFA-SL arc. That was a rough period. I'm personally really enjoying the after-math of that disaster though, it really got them to rethink their dated philosophies.

They almost got me this time Jesse, thanks for reeling me back in.

The flip and then flop is an old trick magazines have done for a century. It's how they can turn one article into two.

That's my thought exactly. I played WoW all the way through BFA, and while there's multiple reasons why I left the game and haven't gone back, I've seen this cycle so, SO many times and I'm amazed more WoW content-creator veterans don't see it.

Give it a month, maybe two, and then we'll see how amazing TWW really is.

It's always been the same exact cycle with every expansion. I think they're still in the hype phase.

Wow, look at all the bots with the same profile picture.

I really enjoyed the more solo player aspect stuff. Like being able to run through a dungeon without having to deal with random people getting mad if I do something wrong has been really nice. There’s a lot of quality of life things that make alts more fun and less of a drag, and there’s a lot less grind. If you want something to do they have cosmetic rewards and stuff, but grinding for power seems gone? I’m sure a top tier raider will tell me I’m wrong, but I - nor anyone I know who plays - is a top tier raider. So… we’re happy :)

We’ll see if it’s still good in two months, but so far it’s been fun. DF was really good, and this seems to be carrying on the good stuff and learning from DF stumbles.

I think some of my favorite stuff has been the “stay awhile and listen” beats. (And of course the zone quests continue to be amazing, but if you’ve played WoW before I’m guessing you knew that.)

imo, it's really good, IF what you're looking for is just a core WoW experience of "do raids and dungeons to get loot" or "do solo stuff for transmog and mounts and whatever else". it didn't do anything to "change up the formula" like they did for so many expansions

Very accurate on the assessment. I am hoping it is good, but I’m not holding my breathe
