The world's rarest and most ancient dog has just been rediscovered in the wild

Researchers from the New Guinea Highland Wild Dog Foundation, Inc. located at least 15 New Guinea highland wild dogs. This is the first confirmed sighting in over half a century. New Guinea highland wild dogs are the most ancient and primitive canids in the world.

There is maybe nothing cooler on this planet than New Guinea and its satellite islands. Anyone remotely interested should read about it. Just an amazing place. So many forces come together to make it a perfect storm of evolution and wild magnificence.

Having spent a good chunk of time there, I can safely say it is also the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. Defied and surpassed my wildest dreams. Best people I’ve ever met too. Just an awesome place.

no no no, that is all wrong. We need to use selective breeding for much shorter legs, no tail, smushed nose, shorter ears and a longer torse. It also needs to be MUCH smaller. That's how dogs *SHOULD* be.
