Gyraline update... Bait and Switch???

We wanted to give an update to our video about the Gyraline alignment system. Since the time we bought it until we posted the video about it, they have changed quite a few of their policies as far as pricing goes which has made us re-think our initial evaluation of the product. We want everyone to know that the terms we outlined in our original video were what we claimed at the time, but since then has become quite a bit different. We don't like click bait style headlines and did not label the video that for views. We apologize of any issues.

I remember when it was pay per use because I had been eyeing it. I didn’t think you did a bate and switch and I definitely know you’re an honest guy.

I use it on my drift car. And to be honest it’s more than worth it for track cars as we are doing a handful of alignments and changing all the time. Yes laser alignment is recommended at first then do little changes. A custom alignment for my car in my area ranges from 180-300 due to everything being fully adjustable.

I guess it’s what you’re using it on. I’ve got a Ford 1931 Model A and I do all my own maintenance. Being able to get her wheels into reasonable alignment on a regular basis, in my driveway, for less than $200 is well worth the price.

Accurate DIY alignment on a normal sedan or sports car is either extremely labor intensive or expensive. If you measure using greased plastic bags for float plates you can get decent measurements, but each adjustment requires jacking the car up, tweaking the bolts, putting the car down, taking another complete set of measurements, lather rinse repeat. You can easily spend hours that way.

I ended up with a set of heavy duty turn plates ($200), precision wheel clamps ($150), toe plates and tape measures, digital angle finders, and putting the entire car on my single car open deck trailer with blocks and shims leveling the trailer elevated enough to slide around and work underneath. Basically a poor man's alignment rack, and once set up, I can do the alignment fairly quickly.

I can't see how their angle finding can be accurate without letting the wheel float, rubber bushings just have way too much play.

For most people, a set of improvised toe plates is all you need to get a driveable alignment even after major suspension work, enough to safely take it to a pro.

My opinion is would it work reliably, accurately and repeatedly eliminating the need to take the car to alignment shop, it would still worth it. I’m still sitting on the fence waiting for some more independent and detailed YouTube reviews to come. I have very sour taste from alignment shops I’ve used over decades (including recommended and highly rated). Cars never drove as good as they did before alignment. I work on my project cars but daily drive fleet company provided ones that rotate every few years and stopped letting shops do “recommended alignment with new set of tires”, every single time they made it handling worse on the road than before. The alignment rack is only as good as the tech working on it. And in today’s world it’s a revolving door of techs in the shop. So I would love to see the decent option for my wrenching hobby. I don’t mind extra time it will take me without lift and rack, but would love to see quantitative and less subjective to the eyeball, technique and initial setup than strings, angle finders. Hell, I can afford to buy used alignment rack and have the expertise to calibrate and make it work, but I have just a residential garage to fit all of my hobbies in LOL.
