Today a client came to me and pointed out she was disappointed with the last work I've done for her. For a former perfectionist, that's a failure. We were texting, so both walking on eggshells and of course, I could sense my own frustration coming. The voice tone I would give her while reading was always the worst but since I am getting old and less reactive, decided to mostly listen and encourage her to elaborate on her opinion, so it became simply acquiring information. Something clicks and you go from defensive to curious in a heartbeat, and it's such a relief to the interaction, you feel the other part disarming as well. Since I wasn't stuck in my own head, I could really pay attention. After all, we got out of the conversation with a positive vibe, she felt she was listened to and I even got an idea on how to fix what was wrong with the work with very little effort. At this point, all the frustration, defensiveness and anger make zero sense

It's true. You have to risk failing at something to truly grow. Persevere in the face of failiure. Don't bury yourself in thoughts of guilt or humiliation because of mistakes you made in the past. Forgive yourself, move on. It hardens your skin, keeps you humble and draws out so much more potential you have yet to realise you possess.

As Yoda says: "The greatest teacher, failiure is."

Failing forward is really about viewing losses as greater lessons for success.

Most people really see failure as something negative, while it's part of growth and we should totally normalise it!

I was talking to a business associate one time, explaining to her how I'd failed really badly about 12 years ago. I told her I felt like such a loser for failing so miserably. She told me that I wasn't a loser, because I didn't quit & I became better. Instead, I was a learner & sometimes you have to fail to get better. It changed my whole perspective. The mistakes are needed to grow.

Btw, this is an excellent channel. Thanks for putting out good work regularly. 💪🤙

failure always is a blessing when it forces one to acquire knowledge or to build habits that lead to the achievement of one’s major purpose in life.

If you’re not failing, you’re probably not really moving forward. 💯
