A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Erika and welcome to my YouTube channel. I've had this channel since 2009 but only started uploading regularly last year. I am a born and raised New Yorker. I've been a performer my whole life and in 2009 was offered the job of a lifetime - performing for Disney Cruise Line. Over three years with the company, I portrayed some of Disney's most beloved characters, danced my heart out, and met my husband! In 2013, I moved up to Toronto, Canada and studied for my full STOTT Pilates certification. Then, that summer, my husband and I got our first apartment on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, NY! In December 2013, my husband (then boyfriend) came home from his last ship contract and proposed! We got married at The Russian Tea Room in New York City on January 24th, 2015. We love adventure, and after 3 years living in Manhattan, in May 2016, we moved down to Celebration, Florida! In December 2016, I danced in the Macy's Holiday Parade at Universal Studios and had the time of my life! Although we've loved Florida, in May 2017, we moved back to New York to be closer to family and friends. In June 2017, we got the best news in the world - that we were expecting our first baby due March 2018. We are so excited that our little family is growing! PHEW.. So that's my story! I don't know what adventures lie ahead but I am SO excited to share them with all of you!

To be fair, you don't seem to understand how it works. Implantation of the fertilized egg happens anywhere between 6 - 12 DPO (Days Past Ovulation). Before that you cannot have a positive test. It is a waste of money to test. If women said they did get a positive before 6 DPO, they were off on their ovulation date and ovulated earlier than expected. When implantation happens the egg burrows into the womb and sends out signals to your body to start creating the pregnancy hormone - HCG. Which is the hormone the pregnancy tests pick up. Even IF, and that's quite a big if, you implanted on 6 DPO it takes up to 2 - 3 days before you produce enough HCG for it to be enough in your urine and be picked up by a pregnancy test. Most women will implant between 8 - 9 DPO, meaning first positive test is most likely to be 10 - 12 DPO.

These "early pregnancy tests" so to say, have a lower "threshold" of when they give a positive, I believe it's 15 HCG whilst a normal tests are 25 HCG, which means you MIGHT get a positive one day sooner than otherwise.

Don't just rant if you don't understand or didn't do any research on how it actually works.

I hope someone who might be trying to conceive found this post useful, and good luck!

A dollar store one and a life brand one (cheap) both gave me faint positives. the clear blue digital said "not pregnant". Due in October 🤷‍♀️

It’s not the tests fault it’s about when you implanted. Most people don’t implant by 6dpo, never mind the few extra days it can take for enough HCG to be detectable.

I respect your opinion but i find that the clear blue is the worst

I’ve always loved first response, it could be that you have a shorter cycle? I’m not sure. Implantation doesn’t usually occur until 6-7 dpo therefore you wouldn’t have the hormones until around 9-10 dpo which could be why you didn’t get a positive till later! But happy you found a test that works for you ❤️

First response says on the packaging that it’s like 75 precent 6 days out. Then like 85 on 5 days out. Then 99 on 4-0. Or something very similar.

Two things I'd like to clarify. "6 days earlier" refers to 6 days after you have officially missed your period, so it really means 5 days before you expect your period to start. Second, the average woman gets her period 14 days after she ovulates, so 5 days before her period is due would be 9 dpo. I will agree the front of the box is misleading; 99% of women are not going to get a positive at 9 dpo. The fine print clarifies that it's 99% accurate when you are at 14 dpo+. That said, because you have a shorter post-ovulation phase (12 days), you're pretty much guaranteed to never get a positive test 6 days before your period is due. Implantation happens on days 8-10 most commonly, but as early as 6 dpo and late as 12 dpo; then it takes at least a day after implantation (more likely 2+) for pregnancy hormone to show up in your urine. *I have no affiliation with the First Response brand*, I've just taken more tests than I like to admit and I have found they are the most sensitive. I agree that the First Response digital is not great; the clear blue digital is more sensitive in my experience.

you do know that implantation can happen anywhere between 6 to 12 dpo so you probably didn’t have any hcg yet

I turn to clear blue before anything!! With my daughter I got a positive 4 days before my missed period. With my 2nd I got a positive a day before my missed period. Both were clear blue digital.

I found the first response to not always be reliable as well. I’ve been pregnant 3 times and the cheap ones were more trustworthy than those ones. Thanks for the video!

FOR THOSE CONSIDERING FIRST RESPONSE: On the box it states, "In laboratory testing, FIRST RESPONSE™ detected the pregnancy hormone levels in 76% of pregnant women, 5 days before their expected period; in 96% of pregnant women, 4 days before their expected period; in >99% of pregnant women, 3 days before their expected period; in >99% of pregnant women, 2 days before their expected period; in >99% of pregnant women, 1 day before their expected period; and in >99% of pregnant women, on the day of their expected period." So only 3/4 women will test positive 5 days before their expected period, meaning less than that will test positive 6 days before their expected period; I'm guess it's closer to 50%.

First response gave me a positive at 4 weeks pregnant! The exact one in your hand. Pink dye with the tilted handle.

It totally depends on the person because I got my first line with the FR line test at 11-12 DPO. And my clear blue digital came back positive at 11 DPO. Every woman has different HCG levels, so diff tests will work better/worse for each individual:)
