Recently purchased this lovely RS3 and could not find any videos mentioning the sound difference between dynamic and individual modes which upon lots of driving and testing have found the best mode is individual with dynamic sound selected. All videos I saw on this particular model and year appeared to test only in Dynamic mode this not displaying the best sound possible.

Not sure how it is with the 8Y-2020's, but I have an 8V.2-2018, and wanted to share my experience with the different noise levels and driving modes, and you can do your own testing. I've read this is an issue with all 2018 RS3's.

Note: my Individual mode has the Dynamic exhaust setting selected.

Basically, every time you start the car, no matter what mode it's in, the exhaust valves are closed, as if the exhaust setting has reverted to comfort/auto. So even when the car starts in Individual or Dynamic, the Dynamic exhaust/engine sound setting is not "on". This means that every time you start the car, you have to cycle through the drive modes back to Individual or Dynamic, and then the Dynamic exhaust/engine sound mode is enabled (valves open).

So if I did what you did in this video, my car would perform exactly the same. If I started the car in Dynamic and gave it a rev, it wouldn't sound very loud, but once you cycle to Individual (or back to Dynamic), then the valves actually open. Next time you start the car in Dynamic, give it a rev first, then cycle through all the modes back to Dynamic and give it another rev. For me, as soon as I cycle from whatever it was when the car was started, to either individual or dynamic, I can clearly hear the valves open.

Hope that all made sense. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
