Now THIS Is How You Do a 5x5! (INTENSE Raw Workout Footage)

5x5 workouts aren't bad-but THIS is the main way that I see them butchered. A lack of effort!

This was a tough workout. You don't HAVE to train this hard to make gains, but I think it helps. A 5x5 program or anything else IS NOT going to be effective without sufficient effort!

So whether you are doing a 5x5 or something else, just be sure that you are just as focused on the quality of the sets as the number of sets or reps.

Taking my 4x4 to the gym for a 5x5, then I have to solve my 2x2 math problem, love that “partially outdoor” gym setup they got squats!

100% dead on with this video that most people not seeing any results just aren’t working hard enough. If you’re not generally pushing yourself to within 3 reps from failure, you’re not going hard enough to make progress, unless you’re a beginner in which case you’ll likely see some results if you use your cat as the weight lifted. 🐈 🏋🏻‍♀️

We could dive so much deeper into this topic, but that’s a great place for most people to start if they want to see better results from their workouts.

I think people don't push themselves because most gym goers weren't active in organized sports as kids so they never learned what max effort really is. Some people just get it fromt he get go and some people learn it eventually.
If someone is willing to have the face they are making on the last rep as their profile picture they're not really training hard.

I used five-by-five stronglifts and your strength goes up real quick. I think I already this in one of your videos but this is a very good program for beginners!

Every set of 5 squats in my 5x5 I feel like I'm not ready for
After 3-4th set my thighs feel done but I pull through anyway and struggle down the stairs from the gym

Most likely I didnt do anything aside from squats that day, though sometimes I deadlift after

Watching this made me cry. Gyms closed again for at least 2 months.

Damn bro I’m not training hard enough. That rap at the end though 😂

Doesn't matter what I do, my squat is going down (while every other lift is improving). I've tried everything and every time I'm weaker than last time.

The most overused cliche is so true: No pain, no gain. And your video endings are great ✌.

"last couple of sets" . I can relate. 5x3 drains everything away.

The good thing about 5x5 for beginners is a straightforward progression. So even if they start out very light, which I think is fine since they get a chance to get better at lifting, they should ultimately end up pushing hard.

Good insight, I have a question I follow push pull legs workout, I want to add farmers walk, where should I incorporate it

You start below your 5rm because eventually you work your way up because you keep adding 5, it will be too much overload if you start at your 5 rep max in the begining.

I strained my shoulder after a week it’s healed but i restarted my lifts to like 40% of my 1RM just to gradually let my shoulder get back into it and not to let it just go right back to where it was, did I make the right call?

I do not agree with this doing a proper 5x5 cycle can often start with your 10 rep max. Then progress to heavier percentages as the weeks go on. The reason for this is to engrain good motor patterns, which can't be done effectively at high Effort levels. There is a place for heavier percentages but you need to build from the base up.
