As long as Game Pass remains optional and it's not forcing people to subscribe? It's good for consumers.

the crazy thing is that Sony is the first to do this in 2010 - 2011 on PlayStation 3 but a few years later microsoft xbox straight up copied & stole Sony's idea so now everyone thinks microsoft created this console game streaming service which xbox now calls it gamepass

Gamepass is a choice, and people have been renting games since the 80's - ive never understood the hate gamepass gets

The only reason one should subscribe to Game Pass is if you want to try a game that you are unsure about. Otherwise, Game Pass Core is more than plenty if you buy all the games you play.

Great video. I am also a physical game collector for me that is the way to play.

The truth is, even if you drop down money for a month of Game Pass to play just one game, that is still cheaper than buying it. Oh no, I can't go back and play High on Life whenever I want because I don't actually own it. What in heavens will I do?

Your reason for not using Gamepass is why I don't myself anymore. I use to have Gamepass and found that for 90% of time it just sat there not being used. The same can be said about PS+ premium that I will not be renewing this August. The price hikes do play a small part but for the most part I have about 1k worth of physical games and 800+ games on Steam so there is little reason for me to have a library of games that can and will come and go.

Plus I don't play MP games nor do I like online co-op as I'm more likely to play local co-op if I even play that. So even the core doesn't appeal to me, so for myself nothing Gamepass or PS+ offers interest me. Its not a bad service its just not for me.

7:08 wait, what are you going to do when physical media inevitability goes away? Also, are all physical games completely on the disc without requiring any additional downloads?

i think game pass fizzled out quick. i wasn't happy with xboxs recent decisions so after 15 years i decided to leave the platform and went to nintendo and the switch. a stark departure from my days in lobbies and playing xbox. i have found they are a lot better than i thought and even their nintendo online service is quality. i was told it was bad but people have no idea what they are talking of. im happy to leave xbox behind, i left sony years ago.

Yeah, I own lots of games I never even played. At least in game pass u can play games, try them out, play multyplayer games and move on without huge backlog on your shoulders. Anothe hand a least u can resell all your physical games, if u get tired of them or need extra cash. Digital games just sucks out your money and cannot be resold.

It totally makes sense that you wouldn't be the biggest fan of gamepass personally Nate - you are obviously a massive collector of physical games. But as you acknowledge, it has its place in the market these days and now there are subscriptions for all types of media (arguably too many). Game pass was the first to do it right and comprehensively for gaming and I think it can only be still seen as a success overall - it has ushered in a very low barrier to entry in a massive variety of genres.

Nice video but I think you left out one of the major points of difference with Game Pass - the day one first party games - this is a pretty undeniable x-factor of the service that has always set it apart from the rest. Even though the quality of Microsoft's first party output has been inconsistent i'll admit, there has still been some fantastic successes on there to critics and players alike to just jump in with zero dollars of extra commitment.

Game Pass Ultimate Key features to keep in mind:
- Day one first party titles
- Cloud gaming (you don't even need your console and to install it)
- Play most of the entire game pass catalogue on PC too
- EA Play adding to even more of the variety

I still buy games for PlayStation, Switch and Xbox so it's in no way an all-out substitute for owning and playing games traditionally, but game pass over the years has absolutely been worth it for me for all of those reasons above.
