The USF Sarasota-Manatee campus is excited to sponsor and participate in the Climate Adaptation Center's first-ever Florida Climate Forecast Conference.

Focusing on Florida’s west coast, the CAC will forecast what our climate could look like in 2030, 2040 and 2050.

This first annual CAC Florida Climate Forecast Conference will discuss issues and provide actionable solutions of great importance for those of us on Florida’s west coast, including:

- Hurricanes: how often and how dangerous?
- Sea Level Rise: how much and how quickly?
- Red Tide: will it become a new normal?
- Seasonal Temperatures: day and night temperature trends
- Unlikely but high impact events: are the risks of extreme events increasing?
- Economics: financial risk and opportunity in a changing climate

Experts will discuss climate forecasts for 2030, 2040 and 2050 and how they were developed. The forecasts will be informative, understandable and useful, in a format not unlike daily weather forecasts. At the CAC, we think of these forecasts as the first operational climate forecasts for our region.

The conference will be held at the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus’ Selby Auditorium, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, starting at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast. A buffet lunch will be held at noon. The cost of the conference is $65.
