The world can't meet the challenge of climate change without aggressive action from both China and the United States, the world’s two largest emitters of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Yet, with U.S.-China relations at the lowest point in decades, competition rather than cooperation increasingly defines the relationship. What are the prospects for U.S.-China climate action? What is the likely role of collaboration or coordination? Will competition be constructive or destructive? Professor Alex Wang of UCLA discussed possible pathways forward for climate action and carbon neutrality in light of recent U.S. and Chinese announcements.
