Donald Trump administration needs to be consistent in its China policy: Former HP CEO

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said President Donald Trump’s executive orders against TikTok and WeChat could be “broader” than just those two apps.

Pompeo did not elaborate, but his comments could be hinting at action against other Chinese apps or even TikTok’s parent company ByteDance, or WeChat owner Tencent.

“So when President Trump made his announcement about not only TikTok, but about WeChat – and if you read it, it’s broader even still than that – is that we’re going to make sure that American data not end up in the hands of an adversary like the Chinese Communist Party, for whom we have seen data uses in Western China that rival the greatest human rights violations in the history of mankind,” Pompeo said in a speech in Prague, Czech Republic.

The orders name both Tencent and ByteDance. One of the executive orders prohibits “any transaction by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with ByteDance Ltd. ... Beijing, China, or its subsidiaries, in which any such company has any interest” as identified by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

Another executive order prohibits “any transaction that is related to WeChat by any person, or with respect to any property, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, with Tencent Holdings Ltd. ... Shenzhen, China, or any subsidiary of that entity.”

The executive orders are vague and do not specify what a “transaction” means. But Pompeo’s comments, in which he mentioned these two specific orders, may be a suggestion the action could extend beyond the two apps named.

Both ByteDance and Tencent were not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNBC.

This was a terrible CEO. She does not think about strategy at all. She thinks about today only and not the long or intermediate term. It is why HP suffered. They weren't thinking about tomorrow and lacked vision under her leadership.

A Bold Solution.

1 Set up a large # of ballot drop locations and Vehicles to act like drop boxes in remote places.

2 A Citizen from all Major platforms Volunteers to Watch Every Drop Box and be in Every vehicle.

3 Pick one day every week to do 1 and 2. This way The Post Office won't be slammed and it will minimize errors.

4 Set up surveillance in each location and upload video to a central site or multiple sites. You techies can optimize this part.

Expensive and big but This Election needs a verification system that will be impossible to refute.

We The People Must Step Up And Do OUR Civic Duty NOW.

I think it is pretty much consistent. The inconsistency is with the news media.

The United States Postal Service is deactivating mail-sorting machines at processing centers across the US.

At least 19 sorting machines, which can process 35, 000 pieces of mail per hour, have been dismantled and removed in recent weeks, postal workers told Motherboard.

The president of the Iowa Postal Workers Union and Democratic lawmakers have voiced concerns about sorting machines being dismantled and about sweeping changes to the USPS made by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a top Trump donor who took office earlier this summer.

Mail-in voting during the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to cause a surge in mail volume ahead of the 2020 election. President Donald Trump has said he would withhold funding from the USPS to sabotage mail-in voting.

She tanked HP when she was CEO. She was the worst thing for that company. Trump's success makes her look like an dung beetle. Talk talk talk, but in the end, her performance speaks volumes.

Carly was all over the map there. Then she gets leveled by the question about giving up intellectual property for short term profits...EPIC FAIL!
