Well, I still don't get it, I guess there's no other way to call "summer" in English, just "summer", therefore it's a proper noun, the name of a season, just like; John, Paul etc...

Anyway, the important thing is that they're special nouns 'cause we can say;
- "The whole summer" or "All summer".
- "The whole winter" or "All winter".

# I guess when you say "the whole summer" you're referring to the fact that something happened "DURING the summer".

# And the same thing happens with the expression "All summer".

Is that correct Kevin ?.
