I've had an MS250 for about 10 or 12 years. I love it, great little saw!

I always like to hear someone refer to the original version as the 025. I've owned two MS-250's and referred to both of them as the 025. Fine, hard-working saw.

Nice review. I’m considering this saw to replace my beat up old MS-230c. I have bigger saws, but I still think the smaller saws are easier to use all day for most jobs I do. The smaller saws are also nice for taking out on my tractor, cleaning up trails or clearing shooting lanes around my tree stands.

I just bought a MS250 here in Alberta. I'm a rookie and going to use it to cut firewood out on crown land. Cut through the small test log like butter. This came with a 16" bar.

I have 2 Huskies and 2 Stihls, including an MS 250. I'm one of the only people I know who actually likes the flippy caps on the 250. When it's cold out and when I'm wearing gloves, I find the flippy cap much easier to work with.
Anyway, great saw. My go to for smaller stuff. A little cold natured but I keep my saws indoors in winter for easier starts. These saws are going on Ebay for about what I paid retail about 5 years ago. Says alot.

My dad had his for a decade. I just bought one and it’s identical. Tried and true. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

I bought mine about 10-15 years ago after an ice storm took down some large limbs off our pecan tree -- I had initially gone out to Lowes and picked up a Poulan, which broke, no kidding, the second time I started it. After exchanging and having he same thing happen again, I went to the local farm supply store and bought the MS 250. Happy camper ever since.

I bought dad a ms250 several years ago, it’s been a good saw. I got it with a 16” bar as well because it’s a nice size for firewood and limbing. Those old rotten limbs sure make for a lot of cleanup.

I just picked up one of these dirty cheap….wouldn’t run for more than a minute or so then bog down….after removing the high and low speed metering screws and blowing some carb clean through it, then adding some fresh gas, she runs like a champ….can’t complain at all for $140 invested. I usually run one of my Husky saws (which are awesome) but the stihl saw feels lighter and cuts just as good as my husky’s..
Nice review ….always nice to hear good comments and a product.

I have the MS 250. Great saw and I've cut a lot of wood with it. But the best saw I ever had was the Homelite Super LX, blue saw. It ate wood like a termite.

I love Stihl equipment. That dealer is quite honest because he could have just marked up the discounted ones to the new price. I don't like those flip caps either lol

I agree that having 2 bar nuts locking down the side plate is better/safer than one. I do like the switch to captive bar nuts on some saws today. We run Stihl, Jonsered (now produced as Redmax) and Husqvarna (made Jonsered) saws for harvesting our firewood, storm cleanup, and clearing. The 250 is a handy little saw for around the place. Maintained properly, a quality saw will pay for itself.

Got a 40 yr old 028 WB that runs rings around the MS250 I have. Without a doubt the MS250 is the HARDEST to start chain saw I have ever seen.

got it used for 200 and with razor sharp blades and a 20in bar the big wood red or white oak hickory ect are not a problem for the 250.👍

I own a few bigger stihls, an ms310 and ms441c. I had been using an old dolmar 111i, but the chain brake is messed up and parts are obsolete. I then bought a used husqvarna 550xp that's better suited for a paperweight or boat anchor. It gets hot when its 30 degrees out and eats pistons as a result. I wanted a ms261 to be my new 50cc saw, but money dictated the ms250 was gonna be my new saw. As with my other stihls I'm well pleased with it. With the 18" bar itll cut 16" which perfectly suits its power. I love its lightweight when limbing or bucking and the long lineage of this model means parts and service items will be available for the rest of my life. High quality, affordable pricing, and parts and service availability make this saw a solid choice if you cant afford a pro saw.

Had my 250 for years and years. Usual maintenance and such and still runs like a champ. Stay away from ethanol gas if you can and use a high octane fuel. Should it blow up tomorrow I have long since got my money back but I dont see that happening.
