Lightning Strike Dashes Backyard Tree to Pieces || ViralHog

"This lighting strike happened at Tappan Lake in Ohio on August 10, 2021. My son and my wife were just inside the house. We were on vacation for the week at our family lake house. It has been in our family for 61 years. Instantly, there a smell of burnt pine after the strike. The tree split in half. The part that fell thankfully didn’t harm anyone but did damage a neighbors shed. I was amazed at the power of Mother Nature. I have always been interested in storms so I felt lucky to witness that power firsthand and thankful no one was hurt."

The tree has a layer of water between the bark. The lightning vaporized the water, causing it to expand and fragment to tree.
