To collect worms. Put green husks from a black walnut in a water bottle, poke some pin holes in the cap and spray the dirt. All the worms will crawl out of the ground for you to easily gather.

As a kid the staple for a worm farm was coffee grounds filer and all. They love it.... and cow poop. Lol

That stuff looks too compacted near the building. Also the gravel on top.

There are ways using copper ground rods to attract worms to your garden. Or vibrations or electricity help attract them to an area.

Get a piece of carpet turn it upside down works great

You can use dish soap mix it with water and dump it on the ground and worms will come out of the ground

Garden hose, Dish soap and a sprayer. Hose down the grass just before dawn when it cools down a bit, spray the crap out of the lawn and wait. Come back about 11pm with a head lamp and pick you some worms. Normally nice big night crawlers.

We used to just take a shovel to the water's edge. Usually, one turn would reveal more earthworms then needed for one fishing trip.

Bub we alway used tree bark, leaves, cardbord and coffee grounds all on top of a dirt patch and keep covered by a board. We also kept the dirt a little loose and we alwas had couple hundred worms under it

Uncle Jim's worm farm has red Wiggler's, they're a composting worm, you can make a really good worm farm with them. You can feed them your table scraps and pretty much anything organic. That's still cool though 😎
