Tempted by $29 running shoes or a $14 smart watch? NBC’s Vicky Nguyen, along with some colleagues, try out products bought on Temu, the popular Chinese shopping app with millions of products available for a fraction of retail prices to see if they're worth it.

Now THIS is the type of journalism we need more of. Also, “one side is looking 70s and one side is looking 80s” had me rolling 😂😂😂

They're not "discounted", those are the true prices of items.

Cheaper is not always better. Sometimes, they can even be a fire hazard.

Can i just throw out some advice. I highly recommend not buying extremely cheap tech from places like Temu. Most of these are made in China from companies we don’t know are even legit. A lot of these products connect to your phone and wifi and now some random people in China now have access to your location and info that could easily be used to hack into your stuff.

Doesn't sounds like it is worth it. Also be careful about getting scammed and your information sold by Temu. Not worth the risk in my opinion

You get what you pay for... Going cheap will end up being CHEAP.

Should have done a blind study, meaning somehow cover up or don't tell the testers, that it's from Temu, it's difficult because the signs are on the products.

No, not worth it. The toxic chemicals, lack of quality control, the damage it does overall is greater than whatever savings you think you're getting.

Complaining about Temu is like complaining about DollarTree’s quality

You get what you paid for. Learnt the hard way. Own a sports bar in Vegas with twelve 75in TV's. These Samsung TV's stayed on for 18 hours daily for 8 years and never had issues, image quality was always top notch. Then I replaced them for cheap TLC 85in TV's at fraction of cost of Samsung's. Big mistake, after using these TLC's for just over a year, one by one, screen started to burn and never turned on again, not even sound would work, and since the warranty was good for only 12 months, had no choice but to get new TV's again. Went back to Samsung's obviously. When it comes to eletronics or smart devices, stick with brand names, don't make the same mistake I did, and avoid that Hisense, TLC and other chinese brand knock offs. They are cheap for a reason.

I bought lot of things but the ones I highly recommend I've been using for a year is electronic bathroom cleaning product, massagers (amazing for the price), and organizers. I also buy screen protector as they are the same on amazon from dropshipping. I also bought a to go blender and its been working great for 2 years. So it really depends what you buy

It’s the same stuff on Amazon but cheaper, soooo yeah. Most things I’ve gotten are more than decent

My friend purchased an Air Fryer Toaster Oven for under $25 from TEMU. Unfortunately, the appliance's power supply burned out - spreading to the wall socket and the electric circuit, causing smoke and heat to damage a part of the kitchen cabinets. The damage ended up costing him a significant amount to repair. He admits it was a poor decision to buy such a cheap appliance but considers himself lucky to have been in the kitchen at the time to control the fire and minimize the damage.

I don’t buy electronics from Temu. It’s useless. I often buy sponges, storage containers, small kitchen gadgets like can opener and ice cream scooper. So far no returns on those items.

Not to mention if you buy on sites like Temu you’re supporting forced labor.

Every retailer in the US buys these same products and rips you off. 71% of all products shipped be Amazon are made in China, you decide.
