You can't actually remove it. It's still selected in WhatsApp and will still try to save to it the backup.

There's no way to disable the Google account while still keeping the local backup active.

The video clearly shows the account still selected after having removed it.

Does not work. Even when removed, whatsapp saves the account-setting and refuses to even give the option to switch to a diffrent account.
