Idk how it works but he makes a point of placing the rod in from the side instead of from the top. He just pulls it up to remove it.

There seems to be a tiny bend on the left side of the ring, he covers it fast though, you have to pause it at the right moment to see it. also you can hear the ring hit the bar, so it's definitely a bend.

In any case, It's still beyond me to explain how such an illusion works at all.😮

The way to dissect the magic is to analyze it backwards and identify the possibilities.

There was no roof on the box so when you dropped the ring it fell down onto the rod. I don't see whats confusing?

I think the rod can be separated. There is a mechanism behind the wooden board, and when the ring is thrown there and quickly pulled, the magnetic rod immediately separates, and the ring fits onto the rod.
