My father and uncle built that particular building years ago!! Their plan was to build a “spar” plant to manufacture and sell feldspar. They sold out to the local spar plant before starting production. The local company did not utilized the plant and it just rot away.
Booneford used to be a train depot where locals would go to catch the train to go to Spruce Pine. We found many old things from the restaurant and depot with a metal detector there. I even have dishes with the name of a store located in booneford on it! It used to be the happening place to trade and catch a ride to town.
The bridge you walked across situated on privately owned property but you can access the plant from the other side from the railroad track.

Nice to see a young man making videos on traveling & exploring and not gaming or stupid pranks. Just came across your page and I subscribed. Looking forward to more videos like this, thank you. I like the "boring stuff", find it interesting.
P.S. I do recommend boots and a small pack with some essentials. A hiking staff can be a life saver. Would also recommend and you may already, but a sidearm. Better to have and never need, then need and not have. Not even so much for against people, but what if a large dog aggressive dog was in building. Great way of signaling for help also.
Anyhow, take care 🤘😎

I have not openly laughed out loud at youtube videos in quite some time. This video came up in my recommended list, so I took the bait. Those decisions usually turn out disappointing, but your channel is the diamond in the rough. Your delivery and editing is on point. I have now subscribed, so it is your duty to entertain me. Keep up the excellent work, and do not let any negative comments get to you.

This video had a real "going to check out a thing with a dude i've known my whole life" kinda vibe to it, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Educational and entertaining. Scored a few chuckles on this one for sure.😂 Good work, man. Keep being you👍 p.s. sorry you got bit by that wild rose.

Only 2k subscribers and almost 400 comments! I think you've found yourself a wonderful niche. It's great seeing these forgotten places and then hearing additional stories in the comments.
Just make sure you stay safe, friend. And always let someone know where you're going to be in case you meet some trouble.

Thanks for the great content and humor!

That said, if you found the actual location, it would be a metal detector paradise

Love the video, a little history about the earth to Sky park, it used to be a mica mine, back in the late 1800s. The mica ran out in the 1930s and then it became a landfill. Makes perfect sense that the old town would be right there and have the saw mill since the railroad runs through there as well.
