This is terrifying. He's assuming that people if given riches will actually do positive things. He's assuming AI will not unleash absolute chaos in markets and society.

Shaw, you are actually wrong about the friction of UBI. There will not be friction EVERY step of the way if you lobbied for it, now would it?
You don't even have to "believe" in it. It's OK. For example I don't believe anything good will come out of AI16z or Marc. Ever. But I can still invest and make money.
Another example: If you were homeless and hungry and the church people gave you shelter and fed you. You can still laugh at them for believing in a bearded old man who lives in the sky. And you can point out the fact that they probably f*** choir boys. Fine But you will not say NO when they help you.
Diversify your beliefs just in case! UBI might be good in some cases for some people even if it comes from the government.

I don't understand how he could be against UBI, the one solution we have for this problem. Some people and communities having AI agents may help them but doesn't help all of humanity which is what we need. The government can just create the money for UBI it doesn't come from tax revenue. Taxes are necessary to control inflation but that can be done progressively, it's not some existential threat to innovation.
