I have the album, but didn't really listen to this song until yesterday. It's one of those songs were, once you get into its mood and vibe, you just want to keep listening to it--and wishing there were more lyrics.

This is an absolute triumph in storytelling and atmosphere.

Replicant, replicant, where have you been?
Replicant, what is that stuff in your hair?
Replicant, why do you lie on the ground?
Shoveling handfuls of dirt on yourself

You've got his eyes
Same exact smile
All that he has
All this will be yours

Replicant, someone is waiting outside
He says you did something wrong to his friend
Look at me when I'm talking to you
What have you got there behind your back?

You've got his eyes
Same exact smile
All that he has
All this will be yours

I found this when I was cleaning your room
I think you've got some explaining to do
Whatever you did, we'll get through this
Go out the back and I'll deal with the cops

You've got his eyes
Same exact smile
All that he has
All this will be yours

I do not understand the lyrics and the story they are telling. But the words disturb me. And I luv it.

The bad thing about this song is that it ends. Why does it have to end! It's so good!

Ok, it’s over analyzing TMBG songs time. If you want to look at this song with the whole album in context, I think you could argue that this song is a sequel, or parallel to Call You Mom. The “replicant” is the singers son, they talk to them as a parent would to their child. The son is referred to as a replicant as the singer believes that they should act/grow up to be like their father. As for the son getting in trouble with the cops, I believe that they tried to prove that they wouldn’t be like their father by committing some type of crime, which resulted in the son running away from home, and would lead into call you mom.

I know this song is probably about a kid killing their father, but I usually think about it as a twin killing their more popular sibling so they can “replace” them

I think this is about a very mischievous clone.

Is it weird that I don't understand most of TMBGs songs, but like them?

I absolutely adore they might be giants, and when they get the lyrics just right it’s magical. This song is so eerie, maybe even sickly sweet? I just adore it.

For some reason this makes me think of Night Vale and the Sandstorm incident...

I imagine that this is what Phish during the Ghost sessions would sound like with Trey's tracks muted.

Am I the only one who thinks of Blade Runner when I hear the lyrics?

PinkiePyro2011: That's the first thing that came to mind. . . especially with "you've got his eyes"

I would be glad if the song is Snufkin's Theme.

It's what Ken Loach would make of A.I.

No joke, I thought this was called Republicant. That would have been hilarious

YES, absolutely I will support the ban and I'll do my part to inform everyone about the ongoing struggle. Banning things is only acceptable when it serves a purpose like keeping the man from taking away our freedoms and suppressing the voices of the true fans. I will purchase the CD too and thus contribute financially.
