Czech quality + engine Skoda, ,push - rod, , aluminium engine, 1st gen was from 60's - Renault bought it for their cheapest cars . .
last mod of that engine (presure casting aluminium with AL head (Favorit engine)) was last time used in 2001 with few Fabia + Octavia
Skoda created also new prototype of modern engine DOHC,
never went into serial production (managers from Skoda were using it inside their Favorits . .)
(Volkswagen had different engines with 1, 400 ccm)
at late 80's Volswagen was offering licence of engine 1300ccm which was 120 kg weight
this OHV (push-rod) 1.3 Skoda engine had about 85 kg in 1987 (with Al head)
