LOVE this! Since I started my site (Queer Film Reviews), I've felt like much of the SEO advice out there didn't fit; my audience is quite niche - and yes, reaching a wider audience is more a marketing problem! I write film reviews... so the keyword is almost always that film's title. Spinning it into something to boost SEO always felt weird whenever it didn't come naturally. Given that many of the old tactics are resulting in sites loosing traction with the various updates as of late, it's important to change tactics like you propose.

Excellent info, thank you. I'm SUPER new so some of the details went over my head (but I've taken notes to revisit as I get better). QUESTION: would you consider doing a video to demonstrate the basics of getting started? I mean, really basic....? I read through a resource on your website "starting a travel blog", that's been very helpful. I've chosen a few names and have searched them for availability, so will start with that. But I'm afraid I'll get stuck once I have the domain, etc. Anyway, if you'd be willing to do that video, it would be great. You can use me as a sample case, I'm happy to share my specifics with you. Thanks for this Nina. You mention SameAs schema. Can you tell me how I go about implementing this? I'm afraid I'm not adept at the technical aspect of blogging, for example things like embedding structured data within my HTML, anything like that. Is there a simple way to understand how to use SamAs schema?
