Wow! Thank you Chris. I’ve always been a collector of sorts. The only thing I would add and something I’ve learned over many years is to collect from your heart. Don’t collect for monetary value but rather what speaks to your soul. Collect for the things that make YOU happy. Goes for comics, statues, board games, stamps, coins etc, etc. Always stay within your means, enjoy your collection privately and share amongst good company.

I always felt that step 1 for new collectors should be to try to read a great deal of source material and get an idea of the mythology for the character(s) they wish to collect; not be basic. It makes a lot of difference for the enjoyment and understanding of people's collections i.e. epic pieces like Dark Knight Returns, Flashpoint etc.

My problem is reigning in my theme and interests - I started with Hot Toys Star wars and Marvel...but now I have DC Direct X-Men, and made the mistake to getting a 1:6 scale Sideshow Batman, and now it opened my eyes to other DC characters...I really wish I could dial back and pick ONE GENRE, but as most nerds are, we have a lot of interests.
