Good discussion of debt ceiling mechanics, but there was too much false equivalency and too little focus on the long term consequences of yielding to extreme extortion, which is only coming from one side. Ends do not justify means. Also, while I have great respect for Furman, he's not qualified to talk about the legal aspects of unilateral alternatives. It would have been better to also have a legal scholar, like Larry Tribe, but perhaps you can do that in a follow-up.
