worked for me on 12v led strip not using the 12e(1.3Mohm~) resistor. gonna try it soon on a longer led strip im assuming i may end up needing a bigger capacitor to keep them from dimming too quickly. would be super cool if you could explain what each component effects in the system

0:25 12E??!! Red, Red Black (22+∅ 0'S) resistor is 22Ω.. and it would be *_22R_* not _E_
I saw at least one person who had looked that up and mistakenly got 1.3MΩ because that's a smd resistor code.
I'd *highly* suggest you either take the video down or add a massive VERY CLEAR disclaimer to the _title_ and _description_ stating this mistake!

Here, I'm gonna give you a free lesson from week one electronics:
Resistor bands go as follows:
Black=0
Brown=1
Red=2
Orange=3
Yellow=4
Green=5
Blue=6
Purple=7
Grey=8
White=9
For the first two bands on 4 band or 3 bands on 5 band resistor, you write those numbers down
The band following, is the _multiplier_ (how many zeros you add to the end). For the multiplier band and *only* the multiplier band we also have:
Gold=×0.1
Silver=×0.01
The last band is the tolerance band which works slightly different:
No Band=20%
Silver=10%
Gold=5%
Red=2%
Brown=1%
There are more but are not nearly as common.
So, now that we've established how to read through-hole resistors, what do we get when we have Green, Blue, Orange, Gold?
A. 45, 000Ω (45k)
B. 560Ω
C. 56, 000Ω (56k)
D. Pretzels
And what is our tolerance?
A. 1%
B. 5%
C. 10%
D. Canada
