How to Build a Smart Airlock Tutorial [Space Engineers]

preview_player
Показать описание
In this tutorial, I will explain in detail how to create your own smart airlock without the use of any mods or scripts. Having an airlock will save oxygen, a valuable new resource, from being expelled into space every time you want to access your ship or station. Creating an intelligent airlock will prevent even accidental decompression and lung explosions. Creating it is easy, all you need to do is follow along and have a copy of Space Engineers for yourself!

From what I can see in the video, this is the timer blocks:

Pressurize 1:
1 sec delay
Sound play
Warning light on
Exterior light on
Inner door on
Outer door close
Air Vent Depressurize off
Pressurize 2 start

Pressurize 2:
8 sec delay
Sound stop
Warning light off
Inner light off
Inner door open
Outer door off
---
Depressurize 1:
1 sec delay
Sound play
Warning light on
Inner light on
Outer door on
Inner door close
Air Vent depressurize on
Depressurize 2 start

Depressurize 2:
8 sec delay
Sound stop
Warning light off
Exterior light off
Outer door open
Inner door off
---
This worked for me, for those of you having a hard time following the video.

When youre setting up the first Pressurize timer block in the video (starts at 9:20) you skip step 5. Its a door action but you don't say what it is. Infuriating.

seriously dude the production value on  your videos is incredible! Not only do you show people how to make stuff you help people understand how so the can use the knowledge in their own designs! Keep it up!

Morph,
I noticed an anomaly when attempting to use this for my mobile base setup, having the depressurize cycle the same timer as the door does not leave sufficient time to close the door, the vent inside the airlock sucks a small amount of air out of the room it is attached to as the door shuts each time it is cycled to depressurize, basically over a couple of dozen cycles my air lock tank filled up and became useless - since vents are smart and do not attempt to pressurize open spaces in the current version, i can see being able to fix this by add a single timer that handles the air vent on the depressurize cycle individually and then hands over to the stage 2 cycle timer.

What's the hud mod? Also, great video, I've been trying to come up with something like this for a ship I'm working on.

You could make this much more simpler... Just have three blocks long corridor. Put door-empty-door and on that empty a sensor. Then adjust the sensor field so it's only inside that middle block. Then put "shut airlock doors" action to both, in/out sensorfield actionbar. Then you just need to use T to open doors, but they will automatically close behind you. Sure you will lose small amount of oxygen, but station wise, it's hardly noticeable.

Hirmh... Sounds akin to what I was thinking, but with sensors... I initially tried to use 3 timer blocks and accidentally depressurized my base. :x

Its a good idea and great tutorial but my god when you are going that fast and I have to constantly alt tab out of space engineers (I have 2 monitors fyi) so that I can start watching over at an earlier section so I can keep up.

Just bought and downloaded this game on xbox today and it doesn't really feel like a great game so far. The building is extremely finnicky, you can't place power generation blocks, and there aren't any lights or alarms. I've somehow got air leaks in a completely sealed box.

nicely done but... :) by my opinion much more smarter and space friendly airlock is just two doors right next to each other, its curently kinda bug because once you close inner doors it would say no oxygen (its caused cause there is no free block space) but you dont have to worry about some oxygen ejected and all you need to make it smart... just one timer block, group all your doors together, set this group into timer block to close, and trigger again timer. Set few seconds delay (im using 5 sec cause my pc is crap). Each 5 seconds system make sure all your doors are closed. just open outter door, fly in, wait until you hear doors behind you close, open inner. Accidental decompresion still can happen, but only in one room. Depend how strong your pc is. If your game runs smooth you will be fine with 2 - 3 seconds, just time to press doors and go in.

Thanx for making half a helpful video... for someone that's new it would have really helped if you actually explained the second half of the process instead of rushing through the vid...

I'm going to guess my game is glitched, depressurizing does not work in my game, also oxygen tanks stay four red lights no matter what I do. starting to think I need to re install the whole game. hopefully I'll get to use this tutorial eventually because it's a good one.

What if I want to use an airtight hangar door as my door? Which timer block should i change a bit? Or what should I do so the door would have the time to close before the depressurization or pressurization sequence begin

It's cool and all, but... How bout same thing but without buttons or control panel and while in spaceship?

this is from 2015 and hes oxy tank is working. FeelsBad 2020, where it only works 50% of the time.
