With all of the mountain biking sub-genres from enduro to XC and everything in between, there are lots of questions that new riders have and some myths that need to be busted. This video is the final part of that series, where I tell you who these bikes are for and if they should be in your biking garage.

If I am not riding at a bikepark, I am walking/riding around with my DH bike looking for drops or steep hills to ride. I have sometimes ridden several kilometers from one spot to another on my single speed DH bike, and surely, it would have been easier with a enduro bike, but it's not what it is about for me. It's about the feel of being outside with my bike and looking for nice freeride spots, I don't really care at all about it being easier or more practical or sit and think if I should get another bike. Just riding whatever gives you "that feel" is where it is at.

Someone who lives about 30 minutes from a bike park...

If anything Downhill bikes dont break as much as a Enduro bike at a bike park. Everytime I ride my Enduro bike at a bike park I always destroy something. But when I ride my DH Bike at a park its a tank and takes it.

DH bikes always make sense, even if you just have it for display in the living room !!

I bought a cheap DH bike to save the abuse my everyday bike would get at Uplift days and bikeparks.
I'll only need to go to about a dozen days to save what a rental would cost.

I'd say if you're going to "pay off" the DH bike in 3 years worth of rental days you should buy one. If not, just rent when you go to the bike park.

I just recently bought an old 2008 Giant Glory as my main "trail" bike.

Is it over kill. Yes.
Is it heavy. Yes.
Do it still love it. Yes.
Its like riding a cloud in the rough stuff and I enjoy the effort I have to then make to ride it which is good for my fitness and ultimately its more bike than I'll ever need so can hit whatever trail I want knowing itll handle whatever I throw it down.

I feel like the rotational energy and angular momentum equations on that whiteboard helped my understanding of this video.

As someone who is not in close proximity to a Whistler (or any larger bike park), renting is the answer IMO. Especially when I am not as proficient at DH at a bike park. Having that rented DH bike was amazing, and as you said Paul did give me some extra confidence to handle the terrain at higher speeds.

I’m not a great rider but have watched a lot of videos and I can your body language while riding has improved so much! Especially cornering. Well done!🤘🏼

I've been wanting to rent a DH bike for years... Still haven't ridden one! One day... Maybe I'll come to Whistler and rent one

Great video Paul. I think everyone will especially listen to Nick because of the mathematical equations on his whiteboard, they make him appear highly intelligent!

I can really appreciate this episode, especially since I've been on the fence of picking up a Dual Crown bike for a while. You've really done an awesome job with this series!

I love Mirand's framed renderings of people trying to draw bikes from memory. So good.

Love the quality of the video. So polished. I almost got myself thinking about buying a downhill bike.
