I was in Europe back in June with some family. We went atop the Zugspitze and for me it was an unbelievable experience. I had a dream to go to Europe ever since I was very young, and I lived that dream. While atop I even shed a tear or two, because I had known Rick Steves was atop the Zugspitze as well. It was incredible!

Gosh that cable car, with only a single tower is both impressive and a little anxiety-inducing. I know Germans have a reputation as world-class engineers. But my goodness, the thought of that cable wearing out, snapping and plunging people down is unnerving. I'm sure it gets regular maintenance, but nothing is perfect.
