Sonic's been compared to Super Mario Bros, but I think Sonic has a much more open and explorative sense of gameplay. Along with this came the undisputed masterpiece Sonic 3 & Knuckles, a game so vast and packed with content, that people never give the development of the game enough credit, but they should, because it's not just a perfection of a craft or the peak of a franchise, it's also a personal accomplishment by Sonic Team themselves."
