I change the lyrics to "Sanit Peter won't you come and take me away, Because I owe my soul to the company store".

He was one of my father’s favorites. We even had his Xmas album. His O Holy Night will send shivers down your spine.

Just two words and two finger-snaps into this song, and you know what it is and who is singing it. No wonder it was a huge hit.

The song “ El barzon “ of Mexico’s people experience reflects the same sentiment of this song. And the reason for the Mexican revolution of 1910. Still struggling to change our world both nation’s people today in 2024.

Both of my grandfathers were coal miners. I grew up hearing about the script paid by the company that could only be spent at the compny store or used to pay rent for a company (camp) house. Workers were never paid with US dollars. Basically, they were owned by the owners of the coal mine.

Never heard this original. Just know it from Joe vs the volcano. Good to know the roots.
