Awesome video, stumbled on your channel while scrolling & what a breath of fresh air, fly-fishing & tying 40 + years & no expert, seeing young guns with your attitude puts a smile on my face, yes agree check your ego at the door & lables don't catch fish only impress, I call my style grunge flyfishing, midrange gear, things don't match, dress comfortably not to impress, get it up my friend, tight lines & screaming reels 🤙🇺🇸

Nice, you’re learned a lot in six year . I started fishing in 1959 I was 9 my and asked my dad to buy me a fly rod . I had watched some old dude fly fishing behind our house on the lake and that’s what I wanted to do. I fished relentlessly for blue gills, crappie, small mouth bass, pike until 1973 moved to Colorado . It took me three humbling years to figure out how to catch trout . Started salt water fishing 12 years ago catching Rooster fish, Dorado, sailfish, marlin, tarpon and more and in the past 6 years started Spey fishing for salmon and steelhead and also trout Spey . So the moral to this story is it’s a wonderful sport and your six rules are things every fishermen should practice. Thanks for sharing

I was going to comment about social media's influence making all fish little in the big pond of life. Instead I watched a few more videos and then created two additional fly tying tools. Well one is a tool, the other a supply.

Number one is a dubbing spinner out of my junk hardware drawer. I have a round threaded brass ball about 1 1/4 inch diameter and threaded in a sheppards hook screw sanded smooth.

Number two experiment is making eyes for the flies by smooshing lighter heated monofiliment 30-50# onto a flat surface creating a flat spot to hold a glued on bead, coloring the flat tip with finger nail polish. One ingredient I don't yet have is a gel that forms a clear bulb over the entire "eye" to seal in the bead and polish. Just in the trial stage, but beats wasting a Sunday afternoon napping.

Hey man, this is great stuff! You deserve more subs. And keep it light, you got me hooked on the getting famous/grandmother stuff, and then the rest of the video was brilliant. Proud to become a subscriper as early as #229, will be bragging about that in a few years.

Hey man, I really enjoy your channel. Would be sick if you ever make it out to southern Alberta I could take you around our mountain streams.

Fly fishing is like life, the more you know, the more you know you don’t know.

Great video! Good info and concur with all you said! Was supposed to go fly fishing this am but there was an unscheduled power generation due to storms last night/very early this am, so shot my morning. Thankfully, I checked app before I headed out. Watching fly fishing videos to get my fix until I can get to the river once generators are turned off. Funny quick story - I went yesterday am, it's about an hour drive, bought some flies/gear from local fly shop and hit the water. Forgot my reading glasses and after 30minutes of trying to thread tippet to fly unsuccessfully (couldn't see the eye well enough to tie the fly), I drove home mad at self LOL. Lesson learned... Probably going out to local pond this pm to just do some casting. Has bream and small bass so will at least get some fishing in!

Getting tangled up and untying line wrapped around your rod, reel, etc. teaches one to slowdown.
When fly fishing the time just sails on by.

Very very good video, the, clearing the mind hits me, deeply. And check the ego, seen too many people who thought they were ( better) than me or whoever I was fishing with. It doesn't matter, relax, clear your mind and regain your sanity. Thank you!! Hope you get famous
