Love it when a high quality TV show or movie just randomly uses some cheap stock sound effect in a scene. It completely takes me out of the show and I just think about that sound effect for a while.

There's a name for this, it's called reification. It's when a culture assimilates certain sound patterns to certain things. It's like how ride of the valkyries now means bombing a vietnamese camp, although it was not the intended meaning of it. So, although this sound was used way before and has just a tiny semblance to the vine thud, people still tell you it's the same cheap way of trying to gather tension to a scene. In reality it's not remotely cheap, it just needs to be used appropriately. This "thud" for example, mimics a barrel of liquid being stroked (at least in my ears), so the image of "cleaning" bodies starts to get built. Not only that, it's subtle as fuck, a lot of people here didn't even heard it. It fits the scene good for me, i really don't get the whole fuss about a sound effect lmao.

Fun Fact: The sound effect you hear was intended to be just added in Post Production but Bryan Cranston, being so dedicated to the role, decided to use magic to make the sound effect actually occur to prevent strain on the editors later on in Production
