I think that Ukraine most likely blew up the dam.
1. Ukraine has done it in the past. I found an article about a previous example of a dam being blown up by Ukraine near Kiev. Here is an excerpt from NPR September 6 2022
"Damaging their own infrastructure may have been key to the country's survival, but restoring it will be costly. According to the Infrastructure Ministry, more than 300 bridges and overpasses have been damaged or destroyed — many of them by Ukrainian forces. Earlier this month, the World Bank said Ukraine's recovery and rebuilding would cost about $350 billion. About a third of that is related to direct damage to infrastructure, according to the Kyiv School of Economics."
2. Ukraine and the US have a history of committing other acts of sabotage and terrorism during this war.
▪︎The attack on the bridge to Crimea
▪︎The sabotage against the German/Russian Nordstream pipeline
▪︎The attacks inside Russia including one against a site that had nuclear weapons and one against the Kremlin
▪︎The assassinations inside Ukraine and Russia against civilians by Ukraine. They even have a public hit list
In all of these cases Ukraine and the US lied and tried to blame the Russians even though it was sometimes ridiculous like the attack on the pipeline.
3. The flooding affects the Russians far more than Ukraine because the east bank of the river is lower and the flood destroys extensive Russian defensive trenches . The dam also supply's water to Crimea and the nuclear plant is in Russian territory and if anything happens to it, it will affect the Russians severely!
4. There is video evidence that showed explosions in the river next to the dam, very likely Ukrainian mines floated down the river with help from the US.
5. The Ukrainians have talked about possibly blowing up this dam and even conducted test strikes using American supplied HIMARS. An article about this was in the Washington Post in December of 2022. Below is an excerpt.
"Kovalchuk considered flooding the river, " the Washington Post reported. "The Ukrainians, he said, even conducted a test strike with a HIMARS launcher on one of the floodgates at the Nova Kakhovka dam, making three holes in the metal to see if the Dnieper’s water could be raised enough to stymie Russian crossings but not flood nearby villages. The test was a success, Kovalchuk said, but the step remained a last resort."
