Pokemon Since the start of the pokemon franchise, there has been fan theories trying to explain many of the mysteries found in Pokemon. Today we are taking a look at Komala and what at first might sound like a crazy Pokemon theory might surprise you with some good arguments.

I am sure many of you have heard of the wobbuffet theory. This Pokémon theory proposes that the real Pokemon is the tail and what we think is wobbuffet is actually a decoy. The some concept applies to this new Pokemon theory on Komala, there are many Pokemon fans that are pointing out that there is reason to believe that the real Pokemon is the log....

I told you it was going to sound like a crazy Pokemon theory, but even me at first didn't want to consider it until I heard the evidence. So please enjoy the video and let me know your thoughts and maybe you have evidence to support or debunk this crazy Pokémon theory!

WHAT IF KOMALA IS A KOALA SHAPED LOG AND THE LOG IS A LOG SHAPED KOALA

I think Komala is a Pokemon. But the log might be one also. It's more of a Slowpoke and Shellder situation where they have a co-dependence thing going on maybe.

Best guess: The log IS the Pokemon... While Komala is... A koala! Like, one from our world, and the log puts it into a permanent coma. Just think about it.

But if all Komala's are sleeping...How do they breed? How do they give birth? How do they even know to get a log to give to the also sleeping baby?! So many freaky questions! Also...If you breed Komalas, is it rape since its asleep and can't consent?

the real question is, why the hell is a koala in Hawaii?

Although the shiny coloration is interesting information, I'm inclined to say because of the Dex entry about its parents giving it the log debunks the log being the actual Pokémon, as well as seeing the koala itself moving like a normal creature in the anime.

That is, that's what I thought at first, but then I thought of something much bigger. Get ready, it's gonna be a tad long.

So I thought of Wobbuffet again. It endures any attack to its "body", but will protect its tail at all costs. Yet in the anime, the blue "body" has a mouth and arms that move. Therefore, I come to two possible conclusions about that. One is that anime is not canon to the game universe and we should ignore it in this case. The other, I'll get back to.

So then I thought about its Dex entry about being given the log by its parents. But how - I and many others ask - would the parents give it the log if there asleep as well? This may be a crackpot theory, but maybe its parents are not Komala. The Dex only said its parents, not specifically stating those parents are Komala. And getting back to the second conclusion I mentioned, some say the Wobbuffet decoy can move as it does because its evolution line is actually Unown > Wynaut > Wobbuffet, it's reality-bending powers cause it.

This has led me to a new theory entirely, or speculation rather, a mix of both. Maybe the reason Komala doesn't evolve as far as we can see is because they hold a secret, they actually do evolve into something greater. When one finally awakens, it unlocks an unimaginable power and becomes something different. And those creatures become the parents of the next Komalas.

Surely if it's asleep it can only use sleeptalk, right?

I think I have solved the mystery!!
At first, I believed that Komala's "sleeping" was actually a form of deep meditation; that it is sensing the world around it using a form of psychic ability.
But then I started to wonder about the way it always clings to its wooden log.

Seeing that Komala is based on the real life Australian koala, I began to think that its "sleeping" was somehow a reference to the Australian Aboriginal legend of Dreamtime: the Aboriginal belief that life and existence are all born from a dream. Then I began to see Komala's "dreams" as a reference to another Aboriginals belief - Dreaming: a term referring to the relation and balance between an individual (or group) and the spiritual, natural, and moral elements of the world.

Through this, I began to wonder if Komala's log was actually a Totem - a natural item, plant (like a log), or animal that is passed down through members of a clan or family as a spiritual emblem. A totem defines a person's role and responsibilities, and represents their connection with their family, friends, and with creation.

Then, I looked at Komala's name; how it's a combination of coma and koala. A coma is a state of unconsciousness in which a person can't be awaken through pain, light or sound. In the anime, Komala is always asleep and yet it is able to move around and battle as though it were awake.

What I'm trying to say is, what if Komala isn't actually in a comatose state, but in a state that's between consciousness and unconsciousness? What if Komala is using its log as a totem to help spiritually connect itself between the real word and the dream world? AND, what if it is actually using smell, touch, and sound to help emulate a surrounding picture of the real world through its dreams?

A Pokémon that looks like it's unconscious, but is actually being fully conscious of the real world through the dream world!!

Unless the lore of the games really IS different from the anime, this theory was finally debunked with the recent episode of the Sun/Moon anime in Japan. Professor Kukui tells the story of the schools Komala and how he had to find or make a replacement log for Komala to rest on - with Komala eventually settling on the log being used to ring the school bell.

Well... the "Koala" can pivot around its its log with its will. Komala is the koala.

Heard NumbNexus talk about this earlier today, but at least its more plausable than the whole Mimikyu is Porygon theory imo

Maybe the log controls Komala and as soon as the parents pass the log they are really just putting themselves into a new body?
