Learning across the country could be paralyzed in the coming few days after two teachers' unions, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), insisted that their parallel strike plans are still on. Despite President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto's fresh plea to the teachers' unions to engage in further talks with the government, the Kenya National Union of Teachers announced that it was mobilizing its members for what the union's secretary general Wilson Sossion has referred to as a nationwide father of all strikes even as KUPPET's strike enters week 2.
