How did a Char B1 destroy a Panzer Company?

The French defense against the German Blitzkrieg usually gets told one way. However there were pockets of resistance where the French fought tough successful battles against the German invaders. One of the stand out battles is that of the Char B1 bis called Eure. Alone, stood up to and destroyed an entire Panzer company in the village of Stonne.

When you see a German backwards cycling down a ramp, you know the video’ll be good

I love this video's tone when showing the French. People assume since the French surrendered and were wimps but they would not and did not go down without a fight.

I always love reading about the French Troops that came back to liberate their homeland from Germany, such patriotism and perseverance makes me smile.

If you ever feel overwhelmed, remember that the commanders on Char B1s had to load/fire the 47mm gun and give orders to the Driver/75mm Gunner, 75mm Loader and Radio Operator and still managed to be extremely effective in combat.

One can only imagine how different the battle of France would have been if instead of spreading the tanks out over the entire frontline, they would have formed more armored battalions to be able to repell the German war machine.

Thanks Yarn for giving me an opportunity to talk about Billotte's crazy life: Son of a WW1 veteran and General, his father was one of 13 generals to die in 1940, some days after his rampage in Stonne. He got badly injured during the battle of France and went into captivity. He escaped and joined the USSR where he was held captive until Barbarossa when he became Free France's ambassador in Moscow. He joined the prestigious 2e DB and was among the first men to enter Paris in 1944. After the war he became minister in France and helped shaping the country in the worshipping of the resistance. He also was one of few to politically contest the use of torture in Algeria and was almost one of the only leftists in the government. He even was France's represent in NATO...

It is good to see videos that show that the French army could and did fight, and fight hard.

The day After Billotte's success, another B1 bis nicknamed "Riquewihr" went towards Stonne. The german soldiers were hidden into the ditch, so the driver put his caterpillar in, and drove forward. When the soldiers inside the village saw the blood painted tank they fled, thus leaving the village for the french army. Two times a single french tank managed to liberate an entire village.

Is anyone else amazed by the amount of quality history content on YouTube? Especially when compared to growing up with the history channel?
