Well naturally it would complicate things for the free to play, however remember that since more than three months ago there is a rumour that in version 4.3 the Triple Banner system should arrive.

triple are not really banners, but triple in like three phases at a time of two. So we would have three phases or three parts with dual banners each one for a total of 6 banners in each update. I don't think it's a bad idea, considering quite a few other catch games do around 12 day banners. I hope they do implement this since the more characters join the game, reruns will be streached out way to long
