that was a really gnarly ankle injury, it's going to take time to heal, bad injuries take time to heal

Messi should retire from the football, enough is enough to conquer the football. What Messi and Ronaldo has done these 2 decade, no will peak that level and leave the legacy that they have made❤❤❤

Leo should just sit home till the Finalissima at Camp Nou and then retire. He's done enough for football.

Argentina still won 1 World Cup and 14 copa Americas without maradona and Messi, but this resentful Mexican will say that Argentina is nothing without them 🤣🤣🤣

I'm the biggest Messi fanboy on the planet and I even think he should retire now, he won the GOAT "debate" no one even touches him or even near him in terms of greatest, he completely obliterated Ronaldo who was his closest rival, he should just enjoy life

So according to their calculations: July 15th to August 20th is 2 months. LoL. Messi is fine. Scaloni didn't picked him because Argentina is already in a good position in the qualifiers and he don't want to put pressure on Messi's ankle just for this little reason. He's enjoying a boat ride now and there's no evidence of any stress. He's laughing and having fun. Doctor said the injury can take 6 weeks to 8 weeks. So, he'll be back either start of September or Mid of September. And that's just coming back, means training. I'm not seeing him resuming his play before October. Mark this comment.

As much as I adore Messi i don't know why all these sports pundits continue to believe that Messi is the reason why Argentina has been so successful and will completely fall apart in his absence. Yes he has been very important to the team and he was there best player during the World cup but look what happened during the Copa, he was very limited in terms of his production yet they still ended up lifting that trophy. They have so much talent and quality players that Messi and this point is not really needed as a player but more of an "stabilizing" force on the pitch, or even off if he decides the wants to insert himself in the team in more of a coaching and mentor role. They'll will be just fine without him if he's not available for some time.

Usually, its like 3 months+ for grade 3 ankle ligaments sprains, no?! Better he takes his time than to hurry and risk more destruction to that ankle!

Makes more sense for Messi to win the supporters shield and then play the last two or four qualifiers this year. He does have a few years left based on how good he was at the copa when not carrying injury.

Argentina suffered after Maradona's retirement not because of him, but AFA was undergoing a managerial crisis. One that is actually quite similar to the one that is happening to Brazil with CBF. Argentina had amazing players in the 90s and 00s like Batistuta, Tevez, and well, RIQUELME. All of those could have won some titles in that time, but AFA was a disaster between 92-2010ish.
