What if every single person on Earth jumped at the same time?
Let’s imagine all 7.8 billion of us, from the skyscrapers of New York to the plains of the Serengeti, leap into the air.
Despite what you might think, the Earth wouldn’t shift in its orbit or tilt on its axis. We’re just not that heavy!
But what would happen? For starters, a whole lot of energy would be released. The combined force would be equivalent to an earthquake measuring about 4 on the Richter scale. Not enough to cause widespread damage, but certainly enough to make seismographs twitch!
So, while we won’t knock Earth off course, it’s a jump that would echo around the world!
