64 year old white guy living in rural Midwest here. I don't listen to rap or could recognize a Taylor Swift song. But I do listen to an excellent free blues radio podcast on line, everyday. I love Questlove. I saw the Roots on the Tonight Show when they first started. I was impressed enough to google them and learn more about them, I like everything about them. Not to take anything away from the absolute excellence of Jon Batiste on The Late Show. Not only an incredibly talented musician but a wonderful loving caring person. I was disappointed when he moved on at first, and then we were introduced to Louis Cato! If I had just on milligram of the talent he posses I would be a happier man. Endea Owens on the bass is fantastic and I wish she and the others played more music for the audience at home. This was way too long.

What is so tragic is hip hop, rap and pop music live on the same street. Yet their life experiences couldn’t be more different. The stories they tell through their music are difficult to hear.
